Boracay Island is said to be one of the most beautiful islands of the world, hence expect that there are a lot of tourists all over the place. I went to the island for the first time last December 2018 (right after the island was reopened after a 6-month rehabilitation by the Philippine government), and it was so lively there, especially by the White Beach area. The White Beach is the most popular area in the island because of its pure white sand and a beautiful sunset view.
I was able to snap this beautiful photo while on a solo trip to Boracay Island (using my ever-so-reliable tripod, of course!) and this is at the Station 3 area (the quietest part of White Beach). I was fortunate enough to have stayed in this area for a few days, because the place where I stayed is just a few walks away from this paradise, and everything is practically a walking distance away.
Boracay, Aklan Accommodation: Roy’s Rendezvous
I happen to stumble upon this place while searching the internet and it also happened that the owner (Sir Gil) and I have been following each other on Instagram for a while (his Instagram consists of beautiful portrait photos of Boracay locals as well as beachgoers) and he welcomed me to his place. Upon looking at the photos of his place on the internet, it looks so chill and the garden vibe makes it a very relaxing place.
And that’s when I said, “Time to check-in at this place for my Boracay trip!” 🙂
THE CHECK-IN PROCESS
Online and prior reservations are required for all hotels in Boracay Island because the government is trying to limit the number of visitors who visit the island. I secured an online reservation and the hotel sent me a voucher via email which I showed to at the Caticlan Jetty Port authorities who screens all hotel bookings of incoming visitors. They will check if the hotel is a DOT-accredited hotel before they will allow you to enter the island. Of course, Roy’s Rendezvous is a DOT-accredited hotel.
Prepare for a few minutes walk from the Main Road going to Roy’s Rendezvous. However, don’t dread it because the farther the place is to the main road, the closer it is to the White Beach! Need I say more?
I was cheerfully greeted by the reception area by the staff who took care of my check-in process. After a few minutes, you will be given the key and will be escorted to your room.
I stayed at Room 7 which is a standalone bungalow and just what a traveler like me needs to have a more than comfortable stay in the island. The bed is clean and comfy, and the sheets smell nice. There is also a side table for you to place your stuff.
There is also a flat screen TV which you can open to catch up with your favorite TV shows. The cable reception of the TV was good.
There was also a rack with hangers to hang your clothes.
The bathroom is so spacious and clean. More importantly, there is a water heater for the shower and there is a bathroom pail. 🙂
The basics are there like towels and tissue papers, however they don’t provide toiletries like shampoo and soap. But it’s not the end of the world! There are a lot of retail stores around the adjacent eateries and buying from them would actually help the locals.
THE COMMON AREA
What I love about Roy’s Rendezvous is the presence of a terrace on every room in their place. This means that all guests can enjoy their own spaces while relaxing. And oh, each room has its own hammock! How’s that?
If you’re feeling lucky, the owner’s pet dog will be there to play with you. So adorable! Roy’s Rendezvous is also a pet-friendly place.
There are common areas also, like the hammocks in the open space and the reception area.
If you’re going to observe, the rooms are not fully concrete and are like bahay kubos, so it adds to the provincial garden homey vibe of the place. <3
They also have wi-fi connection and CCTVs are all over the place, so you will always feel secure on any time of the day and night.
Since I am a breakfast person, I never miss checking out and trying the breakfast of all the places I am staying during travels. In Roy’s Rendezvous, you have a choice to be served a continental breakfast (egg and fruits with bread and jams) or a Filipino breakfast (rice and fish with egg). Most of the time I would always go for something with rice because I will be having a long day exploring the island and I needed some energy. But don’t get me wrong, on other days, I prefer a continental or English breakfast.
Roy’s Rendezvous also offers the following services:
- Travel and Tours Assistance (through @gtourtravelco; they have a receptionist to assist you at the counter)
- Laundry Service (Php100 per kilogram)
Roy’s Rendezvous will provide you a unique accommodation experience in this beautiful island of Boracay. Forget about the concrete mid-rise hotels which you can always find in other major cities! This is something that you can only experience in Boracay. More importantly, what makes it stand out is its location at Station 3, the best part of the White Beach. The owner, Sir Gil, and the staff, are so flexible and attentive to your needs. They will make sure you will have the best experience in Boracay. They are locals of the island, and they are more than proud to share with you the beauty of the island and what it can offer. After all, one of the things I am looking forward whenever I visit a new place are new friends. Sir Gil even invited me to stay over at Roy’s again in the future, especially during the different festivals in Aklan, like the Ati-Atihan Festival which happens annually every January. Kudos to Roy’s Rendezvous! I will definitely recommend this to friends and followers.
