I am a lover of beautiful and colorful things. I am a lover of dorm-type hostels because you may have the most basic bed but you will meet the most amazing people. So guys, if you are looking for a comfy but cheap accommodation in Manila area, then I recommend BCD 58 Ohana Hotel/Hostel! It’s conveniently located along Vicente Cruz Street near Espana Avenue. It is also near the University Belt, specifically the University of Santo Tomas.
BCD 58 Ohana Hotel/Hostel’s former name is BGC Hostel, and BGC means “Be at your greatest comfort”, not Bonifacio Global City. 😛 BCD 58 Ohana Hotel/Hostel has three branches — in Manila, Makati, and Quezon City. I had the opportunity to check-in at BCD 58 Ohana Hotel/Hostel in Manila for a night and experience its nautical-themed accommodation.
The Check-In Process
The check-in was very convenient. I was assisted by Ate Melinda, the very cheerful and kind receptionist on-duty. She just asked me to fill-up the registration form and that’s it! They also provide towels, wi-fi access, and room key. It was a surprise to me because towels are not provided in other hostels I’ve stayed before.
I stayed at a mixed dorm room and the room is well-lit and it smells great. Curtains are provided in all corners of your bed for privacy. This is actually the best thing I liked about BCCD 85 Ohana Hotel/Hostel which is not present in other hostels I’ve stayed before. Electrical outlets and lampshades are provided in every bed. Lockers are provided but you have to provide your own padlock. The bathroom is clean and big. And guys, it has heater! Yay! However, just like any other hostels, they do not provide toiletries hence you have to bring your own.
The Common Area
The common area has a television and there is a shelf with books and boardgames which guests can borrow through the reception area. There are also computers available for 24 hours in case guests want to do research on places they want to go or check their social media accounts in case they did not bring laptops. There is also a dining area and drinking water is provided. I love how the whole place is nautical-themed which really caters my age group and my love for things well-designed!
BCD 85 Ohana Hotel/Hostel is very near Espana Avenue and establishments such as convenience stores and restaurants can be easily found. There is actually a stall that sells street food! The hostel can be easily reached through Espana Avenue northbound. Just alight at Vicente Cruz Street and just walk a few blocks.
My BCD 85 Ohana Hotel/Hostel Experience
I must say that I had a really great time staying at BCD 85 Ohana Hotel/Hostel. I chose the bed nearest the aircon and I had a really good sleep. Upon waking up, I honestly do not want to leave the place just yet but I have to go to work. My theme song for that stay was Never Gonna Leave This Bed by Maroon 5. Haha! The check-out staff was also kind and cheerful and the check-out went smoothly. I just had to fill-up an evaluation form.
That’s it! I highly recommend BCD 85 Ohana Hotel/Hostel for both backpackers and students as well as those who are looking for a cheap yet comfy place to stay in the metro.
